McLaren Northern Michigan - Giving the Gift of Time

You can never be prepared for the loss of a child. When expecting parents walk into a hospital’s obstetrics unit, they are overjoyed knowing they will come home with a new family member. But, there are tragic times when this is not always the case.

At McLaren Northern Michigan, we are now able to give the gift of time to those that experience infant loss with the Cuddle Cot. Cuddle Cot is a temperature-controlled bassinet that allows a baby to spend more time by the parent’s side as they grieve.

“As a medical professional, it is heartbreaking to see the loss of a baby,” stated Ross Witherbee, MSN, RN, Clinical Nurse Manager at McLaren Northern Michigan. “With this bassinet, parents are able to spend more precious time to love, cherish, and say goodbye to their child.”
