At McLaren Northern Michigan, we recognize the financial challenges patients may face during an already difficult time in their lives. Billing Statements

McLaren Northern Michigan will bill only for hospital services. You will receive separate bills from your physicians for their direct care or consultative services. Other physician fees that you may incur include: radiology, anesthesiology, emergency, surgery, or pathology services. If you have questions regarding these bills, please call the number on the statement from that physician.

Insurance

If you have insurance, Patient Financial Services will bill your insurance carrier. When your insurance company has resolved your claim, you will receive a statement from McLaren Northern Michigan which will show what your insurance has agreed to pay and any remaining balance you may have. If there is a balance due, payment is expected upon receipt of your bill. Co-payments and deductibles will be collected at the time of service. Please contact us to discuss payment options.

Financial Assistance

You may qualify for financial assistance through McLaren Northern Michigan.

Please ask to see our Patient Financial Services Counselors if you have:

  • No health insurance
  • No secondary insurance
  • Been denied by Medicaid
  • An insurance company which requires a large co-pay or deductible

Payment Options

McLaren Northern Michigan accepts cash, check, money order, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover.

Payments can be made:

  • In person at our Patient Financial Services office
  • Using Online Bill Payment (please have your account number available)
  • At any hospital registration desk during business hours
  • At the payment drop box by the hospital lobby registration desk (available 24 hours)
  • By mail
