Tuition Reimbursement:

Realizing the importance of continuing education and career development, McLaren Northern Michigan provides annual tuition reimbursement to full-time and part-time benefits eligible nurses after they have successfully completed their six month introductory period.

The courses must be the regular offering of an accredited college or university, taken for credit and may be correspondence, extension, online, or on campus. The Tuition Assistance policy allows reimbursement for approved courses up to $3,250 paid in a payroll year.

Foundation Scholarships

A variety of scholarships are available through the McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation to support the 80% BSN initiative. The foundation works diligently to identify individuals interested in donating funds to support nursing education. Our donors are very passionate about providing the appropriate resources for nursing educational opportunities. They understand that it's a financial burden to some, and they want to help relieve some of that hardship. The foundation is always strategizing to determine which donor has an affinity toward education or equipment or a program. In 2014 the MNM Foundation disbursed $132,977 specifically to 133 nurses who were pursuing education.

Partnerships with Nursing Programs

LSSU is a state university located approximately 90 miles north of MNM. The LSSU School of Nurses is the closest institute of higher learning that offers a Bachelor's degree in nursing. In 2013 a partnership between MNM and LSSU resulted in an on-site program in which MNM recruits students, provides facility an on-site liaison for questions. LSSU provided instructors, the LSSU nursing curriculum and academic administration and counseling services.

In the fall semester of 2014, MNN initiated a partnership with Chamberlain School of Nursing to support the progression of BSN degrees. The partnership provides MNM nurses who enroll in Chamberlain School of Nursing a waiver of the application fee normally required by Chamberlain, as well as special tuition pricing of 85% of the tuition rate applicable to the RN-to-BSN, MSN and DNP online programs.
