Notice of Wolverine Solutions Group Data Security Incident Impacting McLaren Patients

McLaren Health Care has been notified by Wolverine Solutions Group (“WSG”), a company that is subcontracted by our vendor, Client Financial Services, to print and mail patient bills and other materials to McLaren patients, that on or around September 23, 2018, WSG experienced a ransomware incident (a malicious software attack).  McLaren received notice of this incident on December 10, 2018, when the WSG forensic team uncovered initial evidence that McLaren patient information may have been included on the impacted servers.   WSG also reported this incident to local law enforcement authorities and the FBI.

McLaren is posting WSG’s statement on our websites as a precautionary measure and as part of our commitment to patient privacy.

WSG did not find any evidence that records were exported from their systems.  However, out of an abundance of caution, WSG recommended, and McLaren agrees that steps should be taken by WSG to protect any potentially impacted patients as outlined in its “Notice of Breach.”  https://www.mclaren.org/Uploads/Public/Documents/Corporate/wolverine-solutions-group-security-statement.pdf
