Holiday Tradition of Honoring Your Loved Ones

Published on Thursday, November 29, 2018

woman hanging up ornamentFor many years, the McLaren Cheboygan Campus Guild “Tree of Lights” has been a meaningful way to celebrate the life or memory of a loved one.

“When you donate to the Tree of Lights, a dove-shaped ornament with the name of your friend or family member will be hung on a tree in the lobby of the Cheboygan Community Medical Center for all visitors to admire,” said Brenda Butts, McLaren Cheboygan Campus Guild President. “I give to the Tree of Lights every year in memory of my family members. It’s a great way to honor them at the holiday time.”

Community members who make a donation to the Tree of Lights not only honor a loved one, but support the McLaren Northern Michigan Cheboygan Campus to expand its services, technology, and treatment options. As a not-for-profit organization, all the money raised by the Guild through the Tree of Lights will stay in the community to support the Cheboygan Campus.

To make a gift to the Tree of Lights, call the McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation at 231-487-3500 or give online at bit.ly/cheboygantreeoflights.

The entire community is invited to join the McLaren Cheboygan Campus Guild on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 4 p.m. for a tree lighting ceremony. Members of the Guild and community will gather near the chapel at the Cheboygan Campus before lighting the evergreen tree outside the Emergency entrance.
