McLaren Oakland COVID ASSISTANCE FUND

McLaren Oakland - COVID Fund Guidelines

In order to be considered for financial assistance, the employee must provide sufficient information to the CEO and VP Human Resources of McLaren Oakland Hospital displaying experience of a financial hardship, as a direct result of COVID.

Personal Hardships shall include, but not be limited to:

  1. COVID death in the employee’s immediate family requiring assistance with out-of-state travel expenses, or other onetime expenses . Immediate Family Shall Be Defined As: Mother, Father, Spouse, Son, Daughter, Brother, Sister, Father-in-Law (Current Spouse), Mother-in-Law (Current Spouse), Grandparent, Grandchild, Legal Guardian, Natural Child of Current Spouse, and Step Parent.
  2. Loss of income not fully or partially covered by workman comp. or unemployment benefits.
  3. Required mental health counseling, not covered by insurance, as a result of COVID.
  4. Medical bills resulting from COVID not coved under insurance.
  5. Other hardship situations as a direct result of COVID virus.

COVID Fund Submissions:

All requests for financial assistance must be submitted in writing to Oakland Foundation, and signed by the employee making the request. The employee requesting financial assistance shall complete the Submission Form.

All requests for financial assistance will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and is limited to one submission per employee, per year. Those employees who are qualified to request assistance from the COVID Fund must be employed for at least six months and have the status of good-standing as a part-time of full-time employee of McLaren Oakland.

If financial assistance exceeds the amount of $500.00, the request must be brought to Senior Leadership committee for final approval.

Monetary gifts from the Fund will be disbursed to the employee recipient by means of a check, or gift card, accompanied by written notification. This written notification should be properly signed and executed as the situation warrants.

These guidelines will remain in effect as long as there are funds in the Oakland COVID to be used. When, or if, the original fund is depleted, CEO will re-evaluate the COVID to determine if it should be replenished.

McLaren Oakland COVID fund does not provide emergency assistance to pay for debt consolidation, poor financial planning, non-essential items, or other expenses derived from non-COVID related circumstances.
