Teen Heart Screening

Teen Heart Screening is open to ALL LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

McLaren Port Huron and the McLaren Port Huron Foundation Marysville Community Healthy Team will hold a FREE teen heart screening August 12, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., at Marysville High School. The screening is open to ALL LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. for the 2017-2018 school year. A parent or legal representative is required to attend the screening with their student.

It is estimated that approximately 100 young athletes die from SCA in the United States every year; 65% of these deaths occur in the high school age group. The purpose of this screening is to identify any heart conditions associated with sudden cardiac arrest in students who participate in vigorous physical activities, including sports. The Teen Heart Screening follows the American Heart Association recommendations for teen athletes. All examination stations are staffed with medical professionals.
