Drug and Alcohol Testing Program

Drug Testing Could Save You Money!

Did you know many insurance companies offer a 3% to 5% discount on the workers' compensation premium for employers who participate in a drug testing program?  In most cases, the insured must perform pre-employment, post-accident, just cause and random testing to qualify for the discount.

Our occupational medicine clinic can help you with a drug testing program and help ensure that you are providing a drug free, safe workplace for your employees.  We offer pre-placement, post-accident, drug testing for cause and random testing at our clinic

We can also serve as your drug screen collection site.  We have in-house labs we work with or can collect and send out a sample to any lab area employers may have a contract with. Substance Abuse Professionals are available through our Employee Assistance Program should you have a positive result.

Random Drug and Alcohol Testing

Our occupational medicine clinic also has all the tools to provide you with a complete random drug and alcohol testing program.  Whether you are required to have a program due to Department of Transportation requirements or just want to make sure you are indeed providing a drug free work place, we can help.

  • Random Testing Program Management -- our software allows us to scientifically select employees from your employee pool for random drug and/or alcohol testing.
  • Certified Drug Screen Collection -- Certified drug screen collection site.  We are able to collect any drug screen using your chain of custody form as well as provide DOT and non-DOT drug screens using our"house" labs.
  • Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) -- BAT certified technicians.

Hearing Program

Work Related Hearing Loss

Work related hearing loss continues to be a critical workplace safety and health issue.  The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health named hearing loss one of the 21 priority areas for research in the next century.  Noise-induced hearing loss is 100 percent preventable but once acquired, hearing loss is permanent and irreversible.  Therefore, prevention measures must be taken by employers and workers to ensure the protection of workers' hearing.

The costs associated with hearing loss are very high.  For the national workforce, occupational hearing loss costs an estimated $242.4 million per year in disability alone.

McLaren Port Huron Industrial Health can help you with your hearing program.  We offer COHC technicians who can come on-site and perform state of the art hearing tests.  Industrial Health also offers education and training for your employees in regard to hearing health.  Also, Industrial Health can help you determine if an employee's hearing loss is work related or not.

Occupational hearing loss can be a serious issue.  Contact Industrial Health to find out more about our hearing program and see how a local provider can help you make sure your employees aren't victims to workplace noise-induced hearing loss.

Pre-Employment Physicals

pre-employment physicals

The pre-placement exam is performed after a person has been offered a job. The exam is performed with attention to the job duties, including physical requirements.

Following the examination, the physician provides a written opinion about the person's suitability for performing the job without health and safety risk to self and others. Medically conditional information is not divulged on this form. This form of communication usually is a standard form that is placed in the employees file. Specific medical records remain at the health facility and are maintained only by the medical staff.

Respiratory Protection

Industrial Health Respiratory Protection Program

Safety + Health magazine listed OSHA's Top 10 most cited standards in the December 2005 issue. Respiratory Protection was listed as the fourth highest cited standard. Issues that caused employers to be cited included failure to establish a program, failure to have an employee medically cleared for respirator use and failure to have employees fit tested annually.

McLaren Port Huron Industrial Health can help you with your entire respiratory protection program. Our team of experts can help you make sure your program is up to date and in compliance. We have all the equipment needed to properly fit test your employees and make sure they are safe from any respiratory hazards.

The protection standards are a part of MIOSHA PART 451. Here are some links to help you with understanding the program:
