Emergency Psychiatric Services

Contact Information

For Emergency Psychiatric Services, referral sources or patients may call 810-989-3159, or patients may go directly to McLaren Port Huron's Emergency Center.

McLaren Port Huron's Emergency Psychiatric Services (EPS) provide 24-hour-a-day clinical assessments through the Emergency Center by a psychiatric Registered Nurse. Through the assessment, it is determined what level of care would be best for the patient, and assistance is provided in finding the appropriate treatment. A psychiatrist makes the final decision regarding admission and referrals based on the symptoms of the patient.

The EPS nurse will also facilitate direct admissions onto the inpatient Mental Health Unit from other facilities/offices in which the patient has been medically evaluated by a physician and found to be in need of inpatient mental health treatment.
