Darrell Lentz named McLaren Bay Region President/CEO

McLaren Central Michigan’s (MCM) President and CEO, Darrell Lentz has been named McLaren Bay Region’s (MBR) new executive leader. Lentz will be assuming the President and CEO role following the resignation of Clarence Sevillian, McLaren Bay Region’s President and CEO since December of 2014.

Lentz will maintain executive oversight for MCM as the hospital’s President and CEO and will report directly to both Central and Bays’ Hospital Board of Directors.

“We are thrilled Darrell will be expanding his responsibilities with McLaren. He has made significant contributions to MCM in his short time here in Mt. Pleasant and we look forward to his continued leadership with our hospital,” said Doug Ouellette, McLaren Central Michigan Board Chair.

Over the course of a 20-year career in hospital and health system operations management, Lentz has worked in various parts of the country, allowing him to gain experience covering the entire continuum of healthcare in a variety of settings. These settings include small rural hospitals, critical access, faith-based, for-profit, large academic and multi-hospital health systems.

Prior to his arrival to MCM in August of 2020, Lentz was hired by McLaren to perform CEO and integration duties relative to the corporation’s acquisition of St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, Ohio. While at St. Luke’s Hospital he provided guidance and direction for the Board of Directors and Senior Leadership surrounding physician alignment initiatives, program development strategies, COVID-19 response and daily operations.

In the last ten months, Lentz led the hospital through a variety of initiatives including a system-wide rural health alignment, the transition of the hospital to a new electronic medical records platform and the onboarding of several new service lines and providers for the community.

“I am excited for the opportunity to build stronger alignment between two great hospitals and feel privileged to work with such high performing teams at McLaren,” said Lentz.

Lentz holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts, and a Master’s in Business Administration from New Hampshire College in Manchester, New Hampshire.
