Emergency Room Nurse Tracy Ross Selected McLaren Flint's February Outstanding Employee of the Month

McLaren Flint is pleased to announce February’s Outstanding Employee of the Month, Tracy Ross, RN. Hospital leadership honored Tracy on January 20.

Ross’s nominator, security supervisor Bernie Vasquez, said. “I have observed Tracy’s patient care skills on many occasions. Recently, I saw her assisting several patients in the ER waiting room when she also took time to engage with a homeless person, whom I believe came into our facility because he was cold and hungry. She sat and spoke to him for a few minutes and got him something to eat. Tracy went above and beyond that day, showing compassion for someone outside her scope of care. That’s why she is one of the best in her profession.”

Ross was not only surprised by the recognition she was very touched by it.

“It made me feel good. I got tears that someone would notice and take the time to say something, but I take care of all my patients the same,” said Ross, who has worked in the emergency room for 14 years. “I never dread coming to work. I have wanted to be a nurse since I was 12 years old.  I love it. I don’t see myself going anywhere anytime soon.”

McLaren Flint managers, directors, and executive leadership nominate Outstanding Employee of the Month candidates. Award criteria are the hospital’s mission and core values: contribution to culture and core values, teamwork, going the extra mile, outstanding patient service, performance excellence, and commitment.
