McLaren Greater Lansing, part of McLaren Health Care and a leading Ingham County provider through its expansive health care campus, has appointed Jodi Stein, MSN, RN, as Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer, effective May 22. Bringing more than 32 years of nursing and administrative experience to the role, Stein will provide the clinical and operational oversight across the spectrum of nursing throughout the McLaren Greater Lansing organization.

Jodi Stein, MSN, RN

Most recently serving as the director of patient care services, critical care, at McLaren Flint, Stein assumes the role vacated by Deborah Leblanc, who retired in 2022.

“We are privileged with the opportunity to care for our patients, and my philosophy is to always keep the patient at the center of all we do,” Stein said. “I want my leaders to feel empowered and supported, and I believe nurses should always be a strong patient advocate and never settle for average because our patients and community deserve it.”

Beginning her career as a unit nurse and bedside caregiver, Stein progressed in her career, earning promotions to manager and director while also gaining experience in many areas and aspects of patient care services, including cardiovascular services, chemotherapy infusion, surgical services, and critical care.

“Jodi has established herself as an active and influential nursing leader in what has already been a very accomplished career, one that’s been built on collaboration and motivated by driving results that benefit the patient to enhance their care and overall experience,” said Kirk Ray, McLaren Greater Lansing President and CEO. “Combining her clinical expertise with her dedication to fostering a positive environment for patients, visitors, and employees, her presence in our hospital and community will be an invaluable asset.”

In leadership roles, Stein was instrumental in the development and implementation of process and procedural initiatives that led to measurable increases in patient safety and operational efficiencies, enhancing the patient experience while also creating a working environment of positivity and excellence that led to improved nurse retention and decreased nursing vacancies.

“We are delighted to see Jodi Stein advance to the position of Chief Nursing Officer at McLaren Greater Lansing,” said Dr. Justin Klamerus, Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer at McLaren Health Care. “Her contributions to clinical excellence and professionalism were so deeply appreciated in her previous roles within McLaren. Nursing leadership is as pivotal as any point in modern times, I know that the Lansing community will benefit from Jodi’s vision and expertise.”
