McLaren Macomb named one of nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by IBM Watson Health

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich.—McLaren Macomb was named to the nationwide list of 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals, part of the IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals national benchmark series. Marking the hospital’s third time on the annual list, McLaren Macomb is one of just three hospitals in the state and the only hospital in the Tri-County Area to achieve the distinction.

The IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals series uses independent, objective data to analyze a hospital’s performance.

McLaren Macomb’s inclusion on the list demonstrates that the hospital’s cardiovascular program outperformed its peers in key measurements that include patient outcomes, care efficiency, cost and process, among others.

“Being named as one of the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals in the country validates the work we do every day at McLaren Macomb to provide the people of Macomb County with a top quality heart care program,” said Tom Brisse, president and CEO of McLaren Macomb. “We are very fortunate to have an exceptional team of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, clinicians and support staff dedicated to the quality care and outcomes of their patients. This recognition is proof of their hard work and commitment to clinical excellence.”

McLaren Macomb, through its Mat Gaberty Heart Center, provides a comprehensive cardiac program that offers advanced diagnostic and treatment options, which include many minimally invasive procedures, advanced surgical procedures and rapid response teams for any suspected cardiac emergency.

McLaren Macomb’s sister hospital, Petoskey-based McLaren Northern Michigan, was also included on the list.

The IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals series use the most recent data available from multiple resources, including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and Medicare Provider Analysis and Review.
