MCM Awards Volunteer Scholarships

Five students pursuing careers in health care were chosen to receive scholarships from the Louise Williams Volunteer Scholarship Fund at McLaren Central Michigan (MCM). Monies were provided by the estate of Louise Williams at her request, and recipients are chosen by a committee of hospital volunteers.

Recipients included Helena Kriss, Oludamilola Olufosoye, Alison Cataldo, Erin DeRoss, and Logan Blemaster. Kriss, a native of Mount Pleasant, is currently enrolled in the Medical Assistant program at Mid Michigan College. Olufosoye, who has volunteered her time at many Isabella County organizations, is pursuing her medical degree at Central Michigan University. Cataldo, a Sacred Heart Academy alumna, is working towards becoming a speech pathologist at Central Michigan University. Currently enrolled at Central Michigan University College of Medicine, DeRoss plans to practice family medicine. Blemaster, who has a goal of pursuing a degree in the medical field, is working to complete her Medical Assistant certification at Mid Michigan College.

Volunteer scholarship applicants must be committed to pursuing a career in health care; enrolled in college, or in a graduate or doctorate program at an accredited school; involved in the local community or hospital; and maintain a high-grade point average.
