New Petoskey Primary Care Provider

Tim AmborskiWith over 14 years of medical experience, Timothy L. Amborski, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), will be joining Shawn Pertunen, DO, at McLaren Northern Michigan Family Medicine, located at 820 Arlington Avenue in Petoskey.

A Gaylord native, Timothy started his nursing career at McLaren Northern Michigan in 2004 after attending North Central Michigan College. He began in the medical oncology department and then completed the proper training and education to be a SWAT nurse, providing critical care to hospital patients.

“I knew I had to work for McLaren Northern Michigan when I finished nursing school,” stated Timothy. “I was so impressed with the patient care I saw during my nursing school clinical rotation. It was the best decision I have ever made. I have never met so many skilled and educated nurses in my life and I am still impressed by the care and compassion that is provided every day at the hospital.”

After working for the hospital for 7 years, Timothy realized he wanted to continue his education and started his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Ferris State University. When he only had two terms left at Ferris he decided to go to graduate school. Just two months after receiving his BSN, Timothy started his Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner specialty from Chamberlain University.

“While doing a clinical rotation with Dr. Pertunen last summer, I was impressed by her level of patient care and decided to become part of the McLaren Family Medicine team,” said Timothy. “I wanted to continue to work for the community I have been with for the past 14 years, and continue the McLaren Northern Michigan guiding principle to provide health care as we expect for our own family. I signed on to work for McLaren Northern Michigan Family Medicine before I completed my final classes.”

Timothy has a special interest in men’s health, family care, and elderly care. Preventative medicine, including screenings, healthy eating, and exercise are important tools in his method of care to patients.

In his spare time, Timothy enjoys traveling, tent camping in the Upper Peninsula, gardening, hiking, mushroom picking, and spending time with his two sons, Caleb and Deven.

Timothy is welcoming new patients of all ages. To schedule an appointment with Timothy Amborski, FNP, please call McLaren Northern Michigan Family Medicine at (231) 487-9355.
