McLaren Flint is pleased to announce April’s Outstanding Employee of the month, Andrew Mars, Progressive Care Unit (PCU) unit, clerk. Mars was presented the honor by hospital leadership on April 27, 2022.

“I was delighted and surprised to be nominated by my manager,” said Mars. “I’ve been at McLaren almost 10 years and no day is ever the same. Being able to help make the nurses’ jobs a little easier is very rewarding. I’m always impressed by the care they give. I’ve learned a lot about life and overall health issues during my time at the hospital. This recognition makes me feel very appreciated.”

His manager stated, “Andrew is a team player in every sense of the word. If you can’t find Andrew at his desk answering phones and call lights, processing orders, or breaking down charts, then you better check the lobby because he’s probably down there picking up belongings for patients. It’s common to find Andrew in front of the iPad walking a patient’s family through the use of the application so they can see their loved one. If Andrew sees a way he can help patients or colleagues, he just does it.”

The Outstanding Employee of the Month candidates are nominated by managers, directors, and McLaren Flint’s executive leadership team. Criteria for nomination are based on the hospital’s mission and core values: contribution to culture and core values, teamwork, going the extra mile, outstanding patient service, performance excellence, and commitment.
