Breast Cancer patients have been coming to McLaren Greater Lansing and the Karmanos Cancer Institute for treatment and care for a very long time and we are excited to announce that with the addition of Dr. Southard, MSU breast reconstruction surgeon, and the VASERlipo system we are able to offer reconstruction surgery after a mastectomy services that we previously had to refer to another healthcare institution, usually resulting in that patient moving their care full time.
This new service wouldn't have been possible without the support of the McLaren Greater Lansing Foundation who provided funding for the VASERlipo system. Over the last few years, community members have been supporting Oncology Services at McLaren Greater Lansing through sponsorships, donations, and ticket purchases to the Annual Gala. At the 2019 Annual Gala, Foundation Executive Director Lynn Griffor was able to tell the crowd of 450 attendees that their money was going to help McLaren Greater Lansing provide complete Breast Cancer Care here at home.
Thanks to the addition of this equipment Dr. Southard has completed her first reconstruction case at McLaren! Please join us in welcome Dr. Southard and this great service to our hospital.
