Thank You Birchwood Farms Golf & Country Club

Kathleen Jontz Breast Health FundThe Ladies’ Racquet Sports, Ladies’ 9 Hole Golf, and Ladies’ 18 Hole Golf Leagues at Birchwood Farms Golf & Country Club hosted their annual Take a Swing at Cancer event on June 20 and 21, 2017. Over 55 golfers and 30 tennis players participated in this two-day event to raise money for the Kathleen Jontz Breast Health Fund through McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation. This year, Take a Swing at Cancer raised $10,751 to help offset the costs for important diagnostic tests including mammograms, biopsies, and ultrasounds for patients who meet certain financial criteria.

Anne Baker, committee member for the Ladies’ 18 Hole League said, “Cancer affects everyone. The Kathleen Jontz Breast Health Fund gives people access to treatment and services that they would otherwise not be able to afford.” Other committee members include Lea Smith, Sue Esser, Karen Seehausen, Bonnie Moceri, and Denny Green. In the 11 years hosting Take a Swing at Cancer, the event has raised over $60,000 to support women in northern Michigan. The 12th Annual Take a Swing at Cancer event is being planned for June 19 and 20, 2018.
