Welcome to Our Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship - McLaren Macomb/Oakland Program

  • A Message from the Program Director
    John F. Kazmierski, DO

The cardiology fellowship was founded in 2002 and currently has eight fellows in the program. As of July 2017, we are happy to report the expansion of our fellowship program to include two hospitals. Our current fellowship at McLaren Macomb, has merged with McLaren Oakland to create a joint program. McLaren Oakland is a 300-bed hospital with a strong history as a leading teaching hospital in the Pontiac area. McLaren Macomb/Oakland Hospital and Cardiology program are directly affiliated with the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. The program has graduated excellent cardiologists, who often choose to continue their training to be non-invasive cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, and heart failure specialists. The program works with the Cardiology department to further research by participating as an enrollment site in multiple, multi-center national trials. Our hospital supports the use of a “Heart Team” approach and the cardiovascular team includes nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, anesthesia, non-invasive cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, an electrophysiology specialist, and cardiothoracic surgeons.
