Micayla Wright, FNP-C, is a family medicine nurse practitioner serving the Lapeer community. She has experience with preventive care for all stages of life, diagnosis and management of chronic diseases annual exams and testing, ensuring vaccinations are up to date, and coordinating with specialty care as needed.

In 1995 Micayla Wright was born at McLaren Lapeer hospital. She then went on to become a nurse at the same hospital and is now establishing her family medicine practice in the very community where she grew up.

Why did you want to be a nurse practitioner?

I was a nurse for six years at McLaren Lapeer. I loved working with patients and decided I wanted to become a nurse practitioner to better advocate on behalf of my patients.

What is your approach to medicine?

I come from a long line of teachers, and I really focus on partnering with my patients for their care. I want to know their goals and want them to feel comfortable opening up to me with their questions and concerns about their health care.

How does it feel to be practicing in Lapeer?

I never thought I would be back in Lapeer. I was living out of town when I saw the open position listed for a family medicine nurse practitioner in Lapeer. The timing was right, I applied for the position, got the job, and moved back to Lapeer. Everything worked out perfectly.

What do you hope to accomplish with your practice?

I want to retire from this practice. I want to see my toddler patients through their high school graduation. I am here for the long run and want to be there on my patients’ journeys.
