For the seventh consecutive year McLaren Flint and the Flint Firebirds Hockey Club partnered for “Hockey Fights Cancer” which took place on October 22, 2022. This year’s event raised $33,266. These funds will be used to support the community with many cancer-related services, including transportation to and from treatment, free 3D mammograms to help with early breast cancer diagnosis, education, access to oncology nurse navigators, and much more.

The Flint Firebirds players wore specially designed lavender jerseys during the game to represent all types of cancers. The jerseys were autographed and auctioned off at the end of the game. A 50/50 raffle was also held.
“We greatly appreciate the Flint Firebirds partnering with us again this year to raise awareness and funds for this important cause,” states Doug Glazier, Vice President, McLaren Flint Foundation. “We are also grateful for the sponsors who supported our efforts. The funds raised will go a long way to assist patients.”
The Firebirds have hosted this special game every year since the team moved to Flint in 2015.

Having the ability to make a difference creates a great amount of pride for our fans, players, and organization.”
