Empowering Health Care: McLaren Greater Lansing's Women's Giving Circle Makes a Difference

In the heart of McLaren Greater Lansing, a group of remarkable women is reshaping the landscape of health care through compassion, dedication, and collective giving. The Women's Giving Circle (WGC) through McLaren Greater Lansing Foundation stands as a testament to the power of unity, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to providing the best possible health care for its community.

Throughout the year, WGC members gather for various meetings that go beyond traditional philanthropy. These meetings serve as a platform for inspiration, education, and social connection, creating a unique blend of purpose and camaraderie. As a WGC donor, you become part of a community that believes in making a tangible impact on the lives of those in need.

The WGC meets four times a year:

  1. Voting Meetings: At the core of WGC's mission is the collective decision-making process. Donors convene to vote on grants that will support McLaren Greater Lansing. This year, on December 7, WGC members chose to champion the acquisition of a vascular access ultrasound for the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab).
  2. Inspirational Meetings: Dynamic female keynote speakers grace these gatherings, inspiring WGC donors to reach new heights in their commitment to health care and community well-being.
  3. Education Meetings: WGC fosters discussions on relevant health and lifestyle topics affecting women, creating a space for shared knowledge and empowerment.
  4. Social Meetings: Beyond the philanthropic aspect, WGC provides an opportunity for donors to enjoy good food, build friendships, and strengthen their connections within the community.

Vascular Access Ultrasound for the Cardiac Cath Lab:

At the December 7 Voting Meeting, WGC made a significant impact by supporting the acquisition of a vascular access ultrasound for the Cardiac Cath Lab. This state-of-the-art machine promises improved patient care, quality postoperative outcomes, and a streamlined workflow for the lab. By addressing the challenges of limited resources and scheduling conflicts, WGC ensures that McLaren Greater Lansing can provide top-notch health care without compromise.

Funded Grants in 2022:

WGC's commitment extends beyond a single project. In 2022, it supported three transformative initiatives:

Arterion Injection System for the Radiology Department: WGC funded the purchase of an Arterion Injection System, enhancing patient safety by minimizing contrast doses and radiation exposure during interventional radiology procedures.

Behavioral Health Program: In collaboration with the Graduate Medical Education department, WGC launched a behavioral health program. This initiative supports social work students in addressing behavioral health issues within the community, providing integrated care and therapy within McLaren Greater Lansing facilities.

Video Swallow Study Chair: Recognizing the importance of diagnostic testing, WGC contributed funds for a new video swallow study chair. This investment ensures that patients, especially those recovering from strokes, receive the best possible care and recommendations for their unique conditions.

In essence, McLaren Greater Lansing's WGC is not just a philanthropic initiative; it's a movement that empowers women to shape the future of health care in their community. Through unity, compassion, and collective action, these dedicated women are turning their remarkable dedication into invaluable contributions to McLaren Greater Lansing.
