Each week, we ask our emergency docs, “What’s going around?”

This week, Dr. Richard Reidy, an emergency physician at McLaren Macomb, reports:

Flu A & B

The volume of influenza cases remain high, both A and B strains. Both are characterized by high fever, muscle aches, congestion and cough, with the B strain adding gastrointestinal distress.

Gastro

Viral infections bringing about symptoms of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea remain high.

Slip-and-falls

Winter weather conditions continue to cause injuries sustained during slip-and-fall accidents.
