Internist Certified in Lifestyle Medicine Joins McLaren

Welcome Dr. Julia Mueller

Julia Mueller, MD, a board certified internist, joined McLaren Northern Michigan Internal Medicine in Petoskey

Dr. Mueller knew she wanted to be a caregiver from the young age of three. “I alternated between veterinarian and physician for years. Ultimately, I decided to become a physician. I enjoy getting to know my patients and helping them achieve healthier lives,” she expressed.

Dr. Mueller was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Tucson, Arizona. During her undergraduate, she worked as a scribe in an emergency department before pursuing her medical degree at the University of Arizona. She completed her three-year internal medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, where she went on to be chief resident.

After practicing for five years in Napa, California, Dr. Mueller moved to Petoskey to be closer to family. “I am excited to be working with a long-standing practice,” she said.

Certified in Lifestyle Medicine, Dr. Mueller is passionate about promoting healthy living and choices. “Lifestyle medicine is the treatment of chronic disease through dietary changes, exercise, reducing stress and improving sleep,” she explained. “I promote changes in these areas, with medication used as an adjunct, if needed. Patients have benefited greatly through improved lifestyle.”

In her free time, Dr. Mueller loves reading and all things outdoors. “My husband, Dustin, and I have always wanted a farm. Recently, we were able to purchase a farm where we hope to utilize sustainable farming techniques my husband learned after he completed his military service,” she added. “I am looking forward to becoming a part of the Petoskey community with my husband and two children.”

Dr. Mueller is welcoming new patients at McLaren Northern Michigan Internal Medicine, located in the McLaren Medical Office Building, 560 W. Mitchell St., Suite 300, in Petoskey. To learn more visit McLaren.org/NorthernCare or call 231-487-5400.
