McLaren Lapeer Region recognized as a Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital

LAPEER, Mich.—McLaren Lapeer Region, the 222-bed acute care hospital serving all of Lapeer County, has been named to the list of Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital in the country. Facilitated by The Chartis Group, a healthcare advisory firm, the annual list recognizes outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals.

The list is the result of an assessment of publicly available metrics across a spectrum of factors meaningful to hospital care services. Inclusion on the list ranks McLaren Lapeer Region among the nation’s healthcare leaders in managing risk, quality of care, patient satisfaction and operating at a lower cost — passing savings onto their patients.

“We’ve always had enormous pride and confidence in the level of care provided by our organization, and the compassion in which it’s delivered,” said Tim Vargas, McLaren Lapeer Region president and CEO. “Recognition as one of the Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals provides a measure of validation, but also sets the standard to which we hold ourselves.

“This is an accomplishment earned only through the dedication and commitment of our providers, caregivers, support services and all team members who devote their abilities to the betterment of our community.”

McLaren Lapeer Region has focused on expanding its clinical services and offerings to the communities of Lapeer County, first by earning the county’s only Level II Trauma Center verification and establishing a standard of care in which the staff is capable of treating the most serious injuries. The hospital also brought the care of the Karmanos Cancer Network to Lapeer County, providing cancer patients access to its connection of world-renown oncologists, specialists and treatment options through the Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Lapeer Region.

Along with its network of primary care offices throughout the county, McLaren Lapeer Region has committed to bringing more specialty services to the area, filling the recently constructed medical office building on its campus, most recently with the addition of a vascular surgery practice.
