McLaren Bay Region, part of statewide McLaren Health Care and the leading primary and specialty care provider to the Great Lakes Bay Region, has named Tom Keller as President and Chief Executive Officer.
Keller assumes the role previously held by Jamie Carter and Tim Vargas, who each provided interim leadership while the nationwide search for a permanent replacement was underway.
Keller will join the organization effective Aug. 11.
“This is a very exciting time for McLaren Bay Region, with significant projects ahead of us that will benefit our patients and the communities we serve,” said Gary Bosco, Chair of the McLaren Bay Region Board of Directors. “Considering Tom’s extensive experience, we are confident his leadership will continue this momentum and guide our organization as we move forward.”
To McLaren Bay Region, Keller brings more than two decades of executive health care leadership experience, most recently serving as President and CEO of Ozarks Healthcare in Missouri, a rural health system where he led significant growth in market share, stable financial performance, expanded service lines, advanced provider recruitment, and oversaw more than $100 million in capital investments.
“McLaren Bay Region is a dynamic organization and an integral part of the region, and we are confident that Tom’s deep understanding of the health care industry and strategic leadership will be essential as we advance the care and access we provide to our community,” said Chad Grant, McLaren Health Care Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “With his experience and commitment to patient-centered care, we are grateful and excited to welcome Tom and his family to McLaren, Michigan, and the Great Lakes Bay Region.”
Previous to his time leading Ozarks Healthcare, Keller’s roles included Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at SSM Health in Shawnee, Oklahoma; CEO of West Valley Hospital and Phoenix Memorial Hospital in Arizona—both part of Vanguard Health Systems, Inc.; and Chief Operating Officer at Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.
He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Oklahoma and earned a Master of Science in Health Administration from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
