Beloved Teacher Makes Gifts to Benefit Hiland Cottage

Throughout her 20 year career as a music teacher in the Petoskey district, Connie Tanner’s generous spirit touched countless lives and her commitment to the local community extends beyond her lifetime. Naming a number of organizations as beneficiaries of her trust, Connie ensured that her legacy continued to impact the region. McLaren Home Care & Hospice's Hiland Cottage in Petoskey was one beneficiary of Mrs. Tanner’s estate.

Hiland Cottage provides a home away from home when medical needs become overwhelming or a caregiver is unavailable for a patient requiring hospice care. The “Cottage” is a private room facility designed for peace and comfort. Mrs. Tanner’s gift provides support so that Hiland Cottage can continue to provide care for all who need it in a modern, comfortable facility.

Just a Few Words Can Make a Difference

What if writing a simple sentence was all that you had to do to ensure that McLaren Home Care & Hospice can continue to provide outstanding care for years to come? Securing comfort and care for patients in their final days really is as simple as that. Including a gift to McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation in your will can provide for patients tomorrow without affecting your income or assets today.

Including a gift in your will is a popular way to support our services because it is:
- Affordable: Your gift is received after your lifetime so your current assets are not affected.
- Flexible: You can alter your plans or change your mind during your lifetime.
- Versatile: You can give a specific amount, a percentage of your estate or a specific item.

How can I make a difference in the lives of others?
If you have asked yourself that question and you are considering leaving a gift in your will, please contact Jennifer Yelovina, Planned Giving Officer, at 231-487-5020 or at jennifer.yelovina@mclaren.org.
