Imagine a doctor’s office that drives right into your neighborhood—that’s the McLaren Greater Lansing Mobile Clinic. This large RV is fully equipped to be a complete primary care doctor’s office.
“The McLaren Greater Lansing Mobile Clinic is a celebration of access to care for our community. For many people in our community, traveling to the doctor is challenging,” said Deb Slezak, operations director – academic centers for Medicine/GME at McLaren Health Care. “The McLaren Greater Lansing Mobile Clinic changes that—bringing health care to the people in Lansing and the surrounding communities that need it the most.”
The mobile clinic can provide the community with basic health care services, like:
- Checkups and wellness exams (like an annual physical)
- Managing long-term illnesses (like diabetes or asthma)
- Health screenings
- Sports physicals
- Blood pressure checks
- Referrals to see specialists when you need them (like cardiologists, dentists, and others)
Resident physicians from McLaren Greater Lansing, along with primary care doctor Dr. Aaron Bohrer, will be seeing patients in the mobile clinic.
“This initiative represents the dedication of many who believe in the vision that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a healthy life,” said Dr. Bohrer, internal medicine physician at the McLaren Greater Lansing Multi-Specialty Clinic.
Initially, Dr. Bohrer and the mobile clinic team will be located at the New Hope Community Center (430 North Larch Street in Lansing) every Monday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon, with plans to increase availability in other locations in the community.
Walk-ins are welcome; however, you can also schedule an appointment by calling (517) 930-1968.
“Our goal is to give care to everyone in our community who needs it,” said Lynn Griffor, Chief Experience Officer and VP of the McLaren Greater Lansing Foundation. “With this clinic, we can literally meet people in locations where they spend time and get rid of the roadblocks that stop them from seeing a doctor.”
Many people helped raise money for this special new clinic, including the McLaren Greater Lansing Foundation and sponsors like Bill Carr Signs and IBEW NECA Local 665.
