McLaren Oakland Nurse Receives Prestigious Nightingale Award

Congratulations to Deborah White, RN, a nurse at McLaren Oakland, who has been selected by Oakland University to receive the Nightingale Award for Nursing Excellence in the category of Staff Nurse Practice.

White was just one of 10 individuals and 10 runners-up to be honored at the prestigious awards ceremony on May 10, 2018 at the San Marino Club in Troy. The awards were created as a way to spotlight nurses from a variety of clinical roles who go above and beyond in their care for their patients and their families.

More than 700 nurses, physicians and administrators, as well as family members and nursing supporters attended this year’s awards ceremony.

“McLaren Oakland is fortunate to have Deb White on staff,” said Calandra Anderson, RN, MBA, chief nursing officer at McLaren Oakland. “She exemplifies an outstanding employee who delivers the best care to every patient, every day. Deb is focused on quality and serves as a great role model for our nursing environment.”

Along with this recognition, White will receive a check for $1,000, a solid bronze statue of Florence Nightingale and a special Nightingale ceremonial pin. Nominees were nominated by their peers, supervisors, friends and patients in recognition for their superior service and expertise.

“Receiving the Florence Nightingale award has been a wonderful experience,” said White. “To be recognized for my hard work and dedication to my patients is truly an honor. This has been the most exciting time in my nursing career.”
