McLaren Oakland, the 318-bed Pontiac-based hospital serving all of Oakland County, has earned re-verification as a Level II trauma center. Requiring re-verification every three years, this designation is earned after a thorough onsite evaluation of the hospital’s process and staff credentials by the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons.
McLaren Oakland has maintained its trauma verification uninterrupted for more than 20 years, with this re-verification remaining valid until September of 2025.

To achieve trauma center verification, medical centers must meet the rigorous—yet essential—criteria that ensure the capabilities and institutional performance standards set by the American College of Surgeons.

McLaren Oakland commitment includes having trauma surgeons in-house 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allowing for patients to be examined immediately upon arrival, besting the national standard of being evaluated within 15 minutes.
