McLaren Oakland re-verified as a Level II trauma center

McLaren ER

McLaren Oakland, the 318-bed Pontiac-based hospital serving all of Oakland County, has earned re-verification as a Level II trauma center. Requiring re-verification every three years, this designation is earned after a thorough onsite evaluation of the hospital’s process and staff credentials by the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons.

McLaren Oakland has maintained its trauma verification uninterrupted for more than 20 years, with this re-verification remaining valid until September of 2025.

“We’re very fortunate to have a dedicated team of very skilled caregivers who have proven their commitment to support our community with this potentially lifesaving care,” said Tracey Franovich, McLaren Oakland president and CEO. “We’re proud to be in the position to continue providing this critical service to the City of Pontiac and all of Oakland County.”

To achieve trauma center verification, medical centers must meet the rigorous—yet essential—criteria that ensure the capabilities and institutional performance standards set by the American College of Surgeons.

“Every re-verification renews our promise to the community and our commitment to provide it with a much needed and in-demand trauma service,” said Dr. Jason Pasley, surgeon and trauma program medical director at McLaren Oakland. “Re-verification is a meticulous and exacting process, and it’s an accomplishment to be celebrated and shared amongst all of our clinical professionals working with the trauma program.”

McLaren Oakland commitment includes having trauma surgeons in-house 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allowing for patients to be examined immediately upon arrival, besting the national standard of being evaluated within 15 minutes.
