According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 790,000 Americans suffer a heart attack each year, which is an average of one every 40 seconds. That is why McLaren Northern Michigan is pleased to announce the start of the Heart Attack Support Group. Designed for heart attack survivors, spouses, and other loved ones, this free resource provides education and personal connections in a peer-to-peer setting. Sessions will include topics such as:
• Dynamics of a heart attack • Healthy eating • Weight management • Exercise - advancing safely • Navigating internet for relevant resources • Life before and after a heart attack • Understanding your medications The Heart Attack Support Group meets from 6:30 – 8 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at the John and Marnie Demmer Wellness Pavilion and Dialysis Center, located at 820 Arlington Avenue in Petoskey.
