Dr. Christopher Vitale is a board-certified orthopedic trauma surgeon who specializes in the surgical and non-surgical management of complex orthopedic injuries. He completed an orthopedic trauma fellowship at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, California, which furthered his surgical skills, giving him the unique ability to treat complex fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum.
Dr. Vitale’s areas of expertise include fracture management for both pediatric and adult patients, musculoskeletal infections such as osteomyelitis, fracture non-union and malunion, hip arthroplasty (including the anterior approach) and knee arthroplasty, knee arthroscopy, as well as general orthopedics. Dr. Vitale is also certified to perform robotic assisted hip and knee replacements utilizing the MAKO robotic system.
Dr. Vitale serves as the director of orthopedic trauma at McLaren Macomb hospital and is a member of the Orthopedic Trauma Association. Through the accredited orthopedic residency program at McLaren Macomb, he is core faculty, which provides him the ability to train the next generation of orthopedic surgeons. He takes part in daily resident didactics as well as medical student education as an associate clinical professor through Michigan State University.
Dr. Vitale is a lifelong resident of Macomb County with strong ties to the community through family and friends. He and his wife, Candice, enjoy traveling, hiking, and cooking together.
