Northern Michigan Foundation - BlackBaud Statement

Blackbaud Statement
McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation

Thank you for supporting our Foundation and its mission. It has been a challenging several months and your support ensures that McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital and its providers can continue to serve our community with high quality healthcare services.

The purpose of this communication is to share that in 2020 we were notified that Blackbaud, Inc., our provider of fundraising and donor management software, was the victim of a data security incident. Blackbaud advised us that the incident did not involve the dissemination of unprotected credit card information, bank account information, usernames, passwords, or Social Security numbers. Blackbaud has represented to us that it has undertaken a thorough investigation, has engaged law enforcement, and has implemented measures to mitigate potential consequences associated with the incident.

Although we have no reason to doubt Blackbaud’s assertions, please know that promptly following our receipt of their notice, our team, which includes outside counsel, began an independent investigation of the incident and Blackbaud’s actions in response. That investigation is now completed, and while we have no basis at this time for concluding that any donor private information has been compromised, we will continue to assess the situation and will update you if we discover any information that leads us to a different conclusion.

If you have any questions or concerns related to this incident, please contact us at foundation@northernhealth.org
