March 16, 2021 marks the first anniversary of the McLaren Fenton 24/7 emergency room on Owen Road caring for patients. Who knew the opening would coincide with a global pandemic and the immediate need for high-quality health care for the residents of Fenton and surrounding communities?
The ER offers telestroke technology, comprehensive imaging including a CT scanner, X-rays, and ultrasound, as well as capabilities for emergency department laboratory services. Staff includes board-certified emergency physicians, along with emergency room nurses and support personnel.
Patients with non-life-threatening conditions can schedule their appointment time through a convenient online self-scheduling and check-in process to reduce wait times in the emergency room. The system allows patients to select an arrival time online and stay in the comfort of their home until their treatment time arrives.
Remodeling of the McLaren Fenton location also provided the opportunity to add services to the site, including a lab drawing station and imaging services such as bone density scans and 3D mammography. Today, online appointment scheduling is also available for women looking to get their annual screening mammogram.
Since its opening, McLaren Fenton has also welcomed more physicians to the primary care physician offices located opposite of the ER, including an OB/GYN and certified nurse midwife. In January of this year, the physician practice known as Parkway Family Medicine became McLaren Flint-Fenton Family Practice. We are pleased to welcome doctors Jeffery Bossenberger and Christopher Harrison to the McLaren system.
McLaren CareNow has also been introduced at Walgreens in Fenton as of late 2020. McLaren CareNow is a convenient health service where patients receive exceptional care from on-site clinicians and virtually located nurse practitioners. The McLaren CareNow clinics provide fast, high-quality, and cost-effective care for minor illnesses, injuries, wellness physicals, health screenings, vaccinations, 11 point-of-care tests that provide immediate results—including a rapid PCR COVID/Flu test—and a full menu of lab testing supported by McLaren Medical Laboratory.
