Musculoskeletal (MSK) Ultrasound is now available at the McLaren Imaging Center in Flint (501 S. Ballenger Highway) and the McLaren Imaging Center in Fenton (2420 Owen Road). MSK Ultrasound uses sound waves to produce pictures of muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and joints throughout the body, allowing real-time diagnosis. Indications for MSK Ultrasound include: Shoulder – Rotator Cuff and Bicep Tendon Pathology Elbow – Ligament and Tendon Pathology Wrist/Hand – Ganglion Cysts and Synovitis and Tenosynovitis Hip – Hamstring Pathology Knee – Quadriceps & Patellar Tendon Rupture Foot and Ankle – Evaluate Achilles and other tendons Evaluate for Morton’s Neuroma and bursitis Evaluate for plantar fasciitis or plantar fascia rupture Conventional radiographs of the foot and/or ankle CT foot and/or ankle with 3-Dimensional reconstruction Advantages include: No radiation exposure Contrast injections and aspirations is not required Real-time, high resolution soft tissue imaging Patient interaction during the study Minimally affected by metal implants or fragments Alternative to MRI for claustrophobic and obese patients To refer a patient to McLaren Imaging Center - Flint, call (810) 342-4800.
