A recent poll conducted by the Associated Press concluded that the average American is more concerned about this season’s flu than the headline-grabbing coronavirus.
Regardless, though, many still wonder and have questions about the coronavirus that has affected countless lives across the world.
“This (virus) is not an unknown,” said Dr. Anthony Ognjan, an infectious disease specialist at McLaren Macomb. “This is not the time to panic.”
Dr. Ognjan recently appeared on the In Good Health Podcast to extensively and exclusively discuss the coronavirus — what is known and what is not yet known.
“The bottom line is, when you look at what we’re dealing with,” Dr. Ognjan said, “this virus does probably have a similar death rate of regular influenza, which is basically much more common on the planet in a seasonal basis.”
