"This was a complete surprise, but definitely appreciated and I'm really honored," Miller said. "Working with the Waterford Chamber is one of my favorite aspects about my job and will continue to be. Everything we've been able to achieve for the area is worth the work and more." Miller has been an active member of the Waterford Area Chamber of Commerce for 10 years. She is currently the treasurer of the chamber, in her second year as an executive board member.
In addition to her dedication to the Chamber, she has assisted in the advancement of other organizations within the Waterford community: co-chair of the marketing and PR committee for the Waterford Parks and Rec millage, co-chair for two Waterford School District Bond campaigns and a 3-year member of the board of directors for the Waterford Foundation for Public Education.
In a letter to Miller, informing her of the award, Waterford Township supervisor Gary Wall acknowledged her "contributions to the Township and its residents "¦ go above and beyond business as usual" and that her "dedication is greatly appreciated and indicated a great pride in the community."
Nominations are received and reviewed by a committee, awarding the Business Person of the Year recognition to the individual who "contributes their time and expertise to promote and support both the business community and philosophy of the greater Waterford area, with emphasis on making Waterford a better place to live, work and play."
