Each week, we ask our emergency docs, “What’s going around?”

This week, Dr. Rebecca Marquis, an emergency physician at McLaren Macomb, reports:

Flu

While both A & B strains of influenza remain steadily high, cases of A, with symptoms of high fever, muscle aches, congestion and persistent cough, have again overtaken B cases.

Gastro

Symptoms of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea caused by a viral infection have remained steadily high.

Slip-and-fall

Winter weather conditions continue to cause slip-and-fall incidents, resulting in various orthopedic injuries.
