McLaren Let's Move Festival of Races set for April 28

Let's Move logoNow in its eighth year, the McLaren Let's Move Festival of Races is a familiar and welcomed sight to help usher spring into Macomb County. The unofficial start to the season's outdoor activities, the lifestyle event's day includes runs of various distances and activities for all ages.

Organized by the Macomb Health and Fitness Foundation, the 2018 event will be hosted in historic downtown Mount Clemens on Saturday, April 28, beginning at 7:30 a.m. with the opening of registration and check-in. Races begin with the half marathon at 9 a.m., continuing with The Better Half 10K (9:20 a.m.), Oakland University 5K (9:40 a.m.) and Buffalo Wild Wings 1 Mile Run (11 a.m.).

"There's truly something for everyone," said Bob Busquaert, director of the McLaren Let's Move Festival of Races. "And this is the perfect time of year for it. Spring is starting to break through and we're all getting out a little more. What better way to celebrate than with a Saturday morning run through Mount Clemens with hundreds of other enthusiasts?"

A day to promote good health, the event's activities will be rounded out by fitness experts leading warm-up exercises and offering practical fitness instruction, all in a family-friendly and fun atmosphere. Race participants also receive exclusive day-long discounts at Buffalo Wild Wings and Sorrento's Pizza near the finish line.

"The event has become a staple to our community, adding to our collective health, which is our overall mission as a hospital," said Kelley Lovati, PhD., community relations representative at McLaren Macomb. "It always makes for a fun day and McLaren Let's Move is a perfect way to jumpstart what will be an active spring and summer for a lot of people."
