Meet Andrew
Patient Care Assistant

Andrew was born in Michigan. At the age of five he and his family moved to Indiana where he spent much of his young life.  As the father of an energetic three year old son who always brightens his day, Andrew is proud that is son is always on his heels mimicking his actions.

Having been a delivery driver for most of his career Andrew decided he needed a career change. Wanting to work in a hospital setting he applied at a few hospitals before deciding to accept a position at McLaren Macomb. Happy with his decision, he just celebrated his one year anniversary at McLaren Macomb. He is currently completing his nursing degree at Chamberlain College of Nursing.

As a patient care assistant in the surgery, oncology, hospice and outpatient infusion unit Andrew assists with patient care while communicating patient needs to the nurses. Compassionate and caring, he finds the time to listen to patients who need to share their fears and anxieties as well as their life experiences. As he meets new patients he takes pride in making them feel welcome and comfortable. It is for that reason many patients express their gratitude for Andrew's kindness and compassion. He is most fulfilled when they are able to smile despite their pain and suffering.

Andrew truly believes that his calling was to come to McLaren Macomb. Knowing that he is contributing to his patient's recovery brings joy and satisfaction to him daily. And when he has an occasional bad day it is his patients who often turn his day around. He has found that taking the time to listen to patients lightens up their day as well. Committed to patient satisfaction, Andrew believes he succeeds when he is able to brighten a patient's day by providing them a kind word or gesture.

In his leisure time Andrew enjoys doing outdoor activities with his son, tinkering as a backyard mechanic and working out regularly at the the local gym.
