Meet Joyce
Registered Nurse
Born in Detroit, Joyce was raised in St. Clair Shores and after receiving her Associate's degree in applied sciences in respiratory therapy, she continued her nursing education, receiving her RN degree from Regents College. Soon after, she received her Bachelor's degree in nursing from Oakland University.
Joyce has worked at McLaren Macomb for 38 years, currently as a staff RN on 4 West and respiratory therapist. In addition to her nursing duties, Joyce serves as preceptor for new members of the nursing staff and rotates as a charge nurse. She believes in providing the best care to each and every patient and is always willing to take a moment to ensure her patients are as comfortable as possible. Caring for others is very gratifying to Joyce.
Joyce is proud to have chosen nursing as her profession as it serves as an inspiration for her to continuously learn and increase her medical knowledge. She is motivated by the challenges that nursing presents and is always willing to accept a variety of new assignments. Every day is a new learning experience for her.
McLaren Macomb has become Joyce's family and she is grateful to work with many wonderful and compassionate colleagues. She truly cherishes the many lasting friendships she has formed over the years.
To those beginning a nursing career, Joyce advises, "Always be willing to rely on fellow staff for help and support. Learn to work as a team member. And never stop learning."
To promote patient healing and satisfaction, Joyce believes that it is important to always be responsive and supportive to each patient's needs and follow through on promises.
Joyce's has many interests outside of work including singing in her church choir, painting, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family.
