September 30, 2016, was the worst day of my life. I had a stroke and a brain bleed. I want to tell my story for a few reasons.
First, to thank the doctors and nurses who saved my life at McLaren Macomb. I have worked 20 years in the McLaren family and I am so grateful for the service that I and my family received. I was there for about 10 days before I was transferred to McLaren Flint.
I worked at a lead clinic that was set up through McLaren Health Plan and the office of Dr. Patricia Florence. I felt really light headed. I ask my co-worker to clear the room and call an ambulance. The last thing I remember was seeing the paramedics come in.
Now, I would like to apologize for my behavior. I only remember waking up and the next day I was transferred. But according to my family, I was mean and rude to several people. I feel really bad about that, but the worst thing is I still don't remember any of this. I had conversations with people for several days and I had no idea.
A brain injury is a scary issue and having gone through it, I want to say "Thank you, McLaren Macomb hospital, for saving my life." After I was transferred to McLaren Flint, I still stayed inpatient for three months going through rehab learning how to walk and move my arm again.
You never know who you may need one day, treat people the way you want to be treated. Thank you.
