The OPEIU labor organization has given notice to McLaren Macomb that they will be taking the hospital's nurses and support service workers out on strike as part of their ongoing efforts to secure a new collective bargaining agreement. McLaren Macomb respects its employees' rights to participate in the collective bargaining process, but it is deeply disappointing that the union’s leadership is taking valuable team members away from patient care as a part of its negotiating tactics, especially in today's health care environment where all hospitals are challenged to find compassionate, talented clinicians and support staff.

McLaren Macomb’s utmost priority will remain caring for the community during the strike. Hospital leadership is securing highly qualified, licensed clinicians to temporarily join the hospital’s workforce and provide compassionate care during the union's work stoppage.
