Margaret Dimond, PhD., president and CEO of McLaren Oakland, the Pontiac-based hospital serving all of Oakland County, is a recipient of this year’s Leadership Award presented by Olivet College as part of its 24th Annual Leadership in Individual & Social Responsibility Awards.
Olivet College, through its award, recognizes individuals from across the state who selflessly serve others, lead by example and embody individual and social responsibility in relation to their community and the greater society.
“This past year has demonstrated just how important community focused leadership is, and the impact it can have on an organization,” Dimond said. “As CEO of a hospital-based organization during the greatest public health crisis of our lifetimes, being an effective and trustful leader wasn’t something I took lightly. To be recognized for this attribute is an incredible honor, and it’s one shared with — and made possible by — every member of our team who is continuing to fight this pandemic.”
McLaren Oakland, led by Dimond, has been fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic since it first gripped Metro Detroit in March 2020, treating countless patients infected with the coronavirus while also providing comfort to those who would not recover.
The hospital adapted its operations to ensure safe care could also be administered to non-COVID-19 patients and was also an early leader in the vaccine rollout.
Dimond will receive her award during a live-streamed ceremony on May 19.
She is recognized alongside David Funk, retired Olivet Community Schools band director, and Sheri Jones, WLNS, WLAJ news anchor.
