McLaren Oakland names Timothy Kasprzak, MD, MBA, new chief medical officer

Timothy Kasprzak, MD, MBA, has been named as the chief medical officer at McLaren Oakland hospital, located in the heart of Pontiac. A fellowship-trained oncologic diagnostic radiologist by training, Dr. Kasprzak has spent the past several years in leadership positions with increasing levels of responsibility, including previously serving as a CMO, resulting in a track record of successful growth and progress.

He assumes the position previously held by interim CMO Dr. Ronald Shaheen, who stepped into the role upon the retirement of longtime McLaren Oakland CMO Dr. Steven Calkin.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the Oakland community and McLaren system in this role,” he said. “We look forward to addressing ongoing challenges while growing and leading healthcare initiatives in Oakland County and the City of Pontiac.”

A CMO role is responsible for the implementation and oversight of all clinical services delivered within McLaren Oakland, including regional facilities and specialties.

Dr. Kasprzak will act as the liaison between the medical staff and hospital leadership to ensure that clinical quality and patient experiences are unparalleled, while continuing to evolve to meet the challenges of the changing healthcare landscape.

This marks a homecoming for Dr. Kasprzak, who has spent the majority of his professional career in Cleveland. He was born in Dearborn, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan – Dearborn, his medical degree from Wayne State University, and completed his residency training at Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center in Dearborn.
