Dr. Beth Wendt
Chief of Staff
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich.—Beth M. Wendt, DO, has been named chief of staff of the McLaren Macomb Medical Staff for the term 2018-2019. An internal medicine physician, Dr. Wendt assumes the role from emergency medicine physician Dr. James Larkin, whose term ended at the close of 2017.
In her role, Dr. Wendt hopes to lead the McLaren Macomb Medical Staff in initiatives to improve physician communication, recognition and begin taking steps to address overall physician well-being.
“I have always been proud of the work we have done with the Medical Staff officers,” she said. “I look forward to being able to provide leadership, to undertake projects close to my heart and continue the positive progress of the McLaren Macomb Medical Staff.”
In addition to her medical practice, Dr. Wendt has held several medical staff administrative positions of increasing responsibility, including vice chief of the McLaren Macomb Medical Staff (2016-2017), secretary/treasurer of the McLaren Macomb Medical Staff (2014-2015), Medical Staff executive committee (2009-current), chairperson of the patient safety & quality committee (2014-current) among others.
Dr. Wendt began her career with McLaren Macomb in 1991 as an intern following her graduation from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She chose the hospital to continue her education with an internal medicine residency and made her career there, first starting as the internal medicine residency program director before transitioning to private practice and internal medicine clinical faculty.
Dr. Wendt has enjoyed being a lifelong resident of Southeast Michigan and raises her daughter there.
