McLaren Central Michigan adds primary provider Grant McConaughy, FNP-BC

Grant McConaughy, FNP-BC
For Grant, medicine is in his blood.

A family nurse practitioner, Grant McConaughy, FNP-BC, followed in the footsteps set by his mother, also a nurse practitioner, with whom he would spend days at the hospital with as a child and follow her lead in how he builds relationships with his patients.

Grant has joined McLaren Central Michigan – Health Park in Mount Pleasant.

Creating a connection with his patients is paramount to his practice, a skill he honed while starting his career as a registered nurse at the patient’s bedside. He could see the benefit a personal touch brought his patients, and it’s a practice he brings with him to McLaren Central Michigan.

“I am a strong advocate for my patients,” he said. “My job is never to judge patients but to provide them with the best medical recommendations.”

Meet Grant.

Why did you choose this profession?

I was raised in a medical household. My mother was also a nurse practitioner, and I spent more time as a young kid in her office or hospital than I did at home!

Why did you choose family medicine?

The relationships I build with my patients are very important to me, so the highest compliment I can receive is to have a patient want me to care for their loved ones as well. I take care of my patients and their families across the lifespan.

Why did you choose to practice in central Michigan?

I was raised in Colorado, but my wife is from central Michigan. She would bring me home for vacations and holidays and I was always impressed by the safety and sense of community here. It is a perfect place to raise our family!

Why did you choose McLaren?

I wanted to be a part of an organization with such an emphasis on relationships and value-based care.

What do you hope to accomplish with your practice?

I want to be there for my patients now and in the future as their families grow and develop.

What are your interests outside of the office?

When not at the office, I spend my time with my spouse, our 11-year-old, and our dogs (a French Bulldog and a Jack Russell Terrier). I’m a runner and a Disney fan who tries to squeeze in some gaming when I can.
