McLaren Oakland Diagnostic Radiology Resident Earns Top Honors for “Radiology Art”
Dr. Stephanie Schwartz, a program year 4 diagnostic radiology resident at McLaren Oakland, was recognized at the Radiological Society of North America’s Annual Meeting in December as the top pick for “Radiology Art.”
A creative way to highlight the “artistry” of diagnostic images, the “Radiology Art” sub-category placed Dr. Schwartz against international competition.
Director and Associate DIO Stevens Named AHME COIL Chair-Elect
Bret Stevens, EdD, MBA, McLaren Health Care Director of Medical Education and Associate Designated Institutional Official, has been named Chair-Elect for the Association for Hospital Medical Education (AHME)’s Council of Institutional Leaders (COIL), a two-year term.
The nationwide organization is an industry leader in the continuum of hospital-based medical education and supports four core councils to represent the interests of professionals in similar roles. The mission COIL is to “promote the professional development of its members” while enhancing their ability to lead administrative direction for GME programs.

McLaren Macomb EM Residents Host Elementary School Advocacy Event
McLaren Macomb emergency medicine residents hosted a health care education advocacy event at Peck Elementary School. Program director Dr. Emily Orille and the residents spoke to the students about the health care field and what it takes to become a doctor. Students then explored rotating stations with hands-on medical tasks.
The emergency department group also donated playground/gym equipment to the school to promote physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.
McLaren Port Huron Earns ACGME Accreditation
McLaren Port Huron has earned accreditation from ACGME to launch a Graduate Medical Education program this summer when the new class begins clinical training.
Beginning with internal medicine, six resident physicians will fill those initial slots. More specialties are expected to be brought online later this year.
McLaren Macomb Takes Multiple Honors at Third Annual Macomb Research Forum
The Macomb Research Forum is a collaboration between McLaren Macomb, Henry Ford Macomb, and Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Macomb site. It is an opportunity for residents, fellows, and medical students to present their scholarly activity projects in an entirely virtual format.
Across various categories, McLaren Macomb earned four 1st place finishes, two 2nd places, and 3rd place.
