McLaren Homecare Group names new vice president of Homecare

Vicki WatkinsDAVISON, Mich. — McLaren Homecare Group has named Vicki Watkins, MSN, RN, vice president of Homecare as of Sept. 29. As vice president of Homecare, Watkins will oversee all statewide home health care operations for McLaren Homecare Group and the McLaren Health Care system.

Prior to joining McLaren Homecare Group, Watkins worked for B.E. Smith, a top health care executive consulting firm, as a member of their Interim Leadership team. Most recently, Watkins served as the interim service director at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center Home Health and Hospice, where she oversaw the management of three home health and hospice agencies. 

During her time with B.E. Smith, Watkins also worked as interim director of home health and hospice for BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Tex., as well as interim director of home health for Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa, Iowa. Watkins began her health care career at Memorial Healthcare in Owosso, Mich., where she worked for more than 30 years, most recently as director of inpatient services.

With decades of experience in emergency and outpatient care, Watkins brings her expertise in clinical case management, quality management and strategic planning to McLaren Homecare Group’s rapidly-growing home health care team. “Having myself worked as both an aide and nurse, I am eager to determine how I can best serve those front-line staff—the ones who are touching the lives of our patients every day,” Watkins expressed.

Watkins is a graduate of the Hurley Medical Center School of Nursing in Flint, earned her MSN from the University of Phoenix, and is a member of the American Nurses Association (ANA) and Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). Watkins is an adjunct faculty member of the RN to BSN program at the University of Michigan-Flint School of Nursing, as well as an active volunteer with Shiawassee County
