McLaren Lapeer Region Names Tim Vargas New President and CEO

McLaren Lapeer Region welcomes Tim Vargas to the position of president and CEO effective September 25, 2021. Vargas has a 28-year career in healthcare including more than 20 years with progressively greater leadership responsibilities.

“Tim has a proven track record of success in operations leadership, and physician, employee and patient relations,” said Chad Grant, executive vice president and chief operating officer for McLaren Health Care. “His extensive skills in qualifying new clinical and administrative programs, securing top clinical leadership talent, and financial performance will help ensure McLaren Lapeer Region’s success in today’s everchanging health care landscape.”

Vargas has been serving as the McLaren Macomb Chief Operating Officer (COO) since 2017. Under Vargas’ leadership, McLaren Macomb executed many new programs including Musculoskeletal (MSK) Ultrasound, Ophthalmologic Trauma Service, Fetal Diagnostic Clinic, Perinatology/Maternal Fetal Medicine. He also successfully directed multi-million-dollar building projects including the McLaren Macomb Northwest Tower addition including a five-story patient care tower featuring Emergency and Level II Trauma Center, Surgical Services, ICU and two floors of private patient beds, as well as an Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.

Vargas originally joined the McLaren family in 2017 as COO for McLaren Macomb. Prior to joining McLaren Macomb, he held several administrative positions of increasing responsibility at Beaumont Health-Oakwood Health System in Dearborn.

Vargas earned a Master of Health Administration from the University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Services from the University of Phoenix. He maintains his certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Registered Technologist, Radiography and Computed Technology.
